Identify devices attached to trunking ports

Answered Question
Nov 3rd, 2007

I have been presented with a question in which I only have a CONSOLE to a switch that is connected to another switch and a router. There are VLANs configured.

What show command in the switch would tell me to which port the ROUTER is connected to? WOuld the "show interfaces trunk" do that? on my lab it tells me the ports that are trunking but it does not specify the devices attached to it

ROUTER======SWITCH W/CONSOLE=====SWITCH

Thanks in advance

I have this problem too.

show cdp neighbor or show cdp neighbor detail should tell you what type of device is connected to your switch and port it is connected to.

Thanks miller811! What a piece of cake!

I have used that command on the router but not switches. Newbie after all!

Thanks again and have a nice day
