Double hit count on interface

Hiya,

I have a one to one connectivity between 2 Cisco routers through FastEthernet interface. The problem I see is that if I send a 1000 packet out to remote destination(of any size), I see double hitcount on my outgoing interface. Is this due to some cosmetic bug or something related to the interface card PA-2FE-TX?

Looking for you response.

Regards

hi

can you revert back on the specific line item you are looking at there in your interface ?

are you checking the input/output counters ?

Yes, I check the number of input/output packets on the connecting interface. For example, If I send a 1000 ping packet, I see the number of packtes on the interface to be 2000. Seems wierd to me:(

Are you pinging your own interface address? If so, this is the perfectly normal behavior of a point-to-point line. The ping goes to your partner, who sends it back to you. You then respond by sending the response out to your partner, who sends it back to you. So each ping has two packets out and two packets in.
