How to check max config on Cisco Routers?

Hi,

I would like to know the maximum config i can write on Cisco Routers. How can i compare current running config with memory?

Kindly help me in this regard.

Hi

The maximum config depends on your specific hardware. I've worked on routers with more than 32000 lines of config.

The "dir system:" command will show you the size of your running config.

Use the "show archive config differences system:running-config nvram:startup-config" to compare the config, if this was what you were trying to get at.

Maybe you can give us more clarity on your problem.

Do a show startup-config.

The first line will show you something like "Using 15735 out of 245752 bytes".

If you have a problem with the size of the config, you can compress it by configuring service compress-config
