Discovery takes a really long time when loopback setting and reverse lookup option is enabled. When I uncheck those options discovery happens in under a minute based on the small range I specify. All my routers use a loopback for management and I would prefer to have my devices shown by name. What would cause the discovery to take so long with the DNS options enabled?

Are all devices fully resolvable in DNS (both forward and reverse)? If DNS isn't working for all devices it could be timing out while trying to resolve DNS, which takes more time.

Yes the routers are and switches are not. We use a Network Discovery tool made by Peregrine that if the device is not on DNS, its discovered via the device name obtained through the MIB.
