Dear Frieds,

I am working on a Network of around 300 Cisco Devices with 50 vlans.

I had faced one problem that ......There was one switch live in the network and its configuration also saved when last time changes made. But suddenly its configuration has been deleted. There was nothing in it like a new switch.

So I had reconfiguraed the switch and made it active. But I xcan not find the reason behind it? Can any one know the reason for the same ?

I am waiting for the reply soon ......

some times if there are some power problems (power comes down suddenly then up but with violocity) this can erase the startup-config.

some times the flush is erased or damaged.

Can you check if the conig register is set correctly ?

Paste the output of show version here, so we can have a look. I don't think power can delete the cofig if config reg is correct.

HTH

Shaheen

Dear Shasheen,

Thanks,

It's a Catalyst 2950C Switch and the Config reg. is 0xF before and now.So I don't think the problem of config reg.

Than also it may be due to it ...than pls give me the solution to prevent it in future.

Dar Shaheen,

sh ver of the switch ..............

It could be a technical issue like other answers suggested, but it may be a malicious user as well.

Speaking of VTP bombing (the famous scenario with a new switch overwriting your existing VLAN configuration), there are tools that can generate the necessary packets, so....

Check if you lost the entire switch config (hostname, passwords etc) or just VLAN config.

Ya,

I lost all the configuration including password , hostname everything not even vty terminal .....

than might be the reason ?
