Ap dissociating clients

mx

I have a 1231 that has about 5 G clients that talk to it, but they keep dissociating. Code is latest rev and that didnt help. There is only 1 access point in the area and a survey shows no other interference. There is no authentication, just mac address list on the AP. Here is part of the log:

What type of clients are they? Wireless card make/model?

Im sorry, I should have mentioned that, I apologize, they are Linksys WMP54G adaptors.

I am having that exact same issue. I have a Aironet 1240AG. It is about 20,000 sq. ft. that this AP covers. It is the only AP in the building, and there isn't any measurable interference.

The client is running XP SP2 with Linksys WMP54G card running driver version 1.0.3.0. Here is a portion of the log file on the AP.

My AP is running 12.3 (8)

I know it's a bit obvious but as well as updating the AP IOS have you updated the Linksys drivers? Also, set the preamble in the wireless interface settings to "long".

Thank you for the reply. I set the AP preamble to LONG. The client shut off the PC so I will have to test it on Monday. It's at a remote office.

This sounds like a problem i keep having. Did you guys find an answer to this?

I'm still working on it. I haven't found a solution yet.

I did two things over the last couple of days that seemed to have fixed the issue for me. Although Im not sure which one actually fixed it.....

1) I replaced the AP with another one. Copy/paste the config in so they were identical

2) I took out the 2 1756 (I think) big omni antennas and put in 2 rubber duck 4949 antennas. I was in a fairly small metal garage (maybe 8000 square feet) and I thought that maybe too much signal was creating issues with multipath. The antennas were in diversity mode.

Either way, its been rock solid since last friday.

I'll have to see if I can turn down the power on the antenna's that I have. I am serving out about 26,000 sq. ft. but I have LOS to the clients and none of the product is stacked very high at all. It is a metal building so I might have signal reflection issues as well.
