Are the uplink ports 1 gig or 10 gig.
If they are 10 gig, can I connect them to a 1 gig router interface?

They are 1Gbps

Thanks for the quick response. If I can impose on you further, I'm not sure in what configuration to use the 4 uplink ports.
I'm using 12 ports and they're all set to 1000. So I'm sure I need to use more than 1 uplink port.

You may not need more than one uplink port; much depends on how busy the other 12 are. Oversubscription on uplinks is common.
That noted, you also have the option to channel ports, usually up to 8.
PS:
If your uplink distance is within copper range, you can also use you "normal" copper ports for uplinks.

Joe:
Thanks much for the info. I didn't mention, as I should have, I'm pushing Video (FTP)over these ports. But you did cover this, and I'll
etherchannel these ports together.
