i came across a question were a network consists of four switches and a router. Now one of the switches.

now one of the switches which has four depts configured on it gets removed from the nerwork.it is later connected back a switch D on the uplink.switches are labeled A,B,C and D.

the switch had a pro, mgt,hr and marketing depts.on reconnection, the question was which of the depts would still be in the switch? and from the topologyi saw,i didn't see the names they mentioned.i saw different depts entirely.

And they also asked about mac address sources when in the diagram they gave no mac add.

i know someone has come across this question so i need an answer.thanks.

Every department will be configured under seperate vlan. In the switch issue the command sh int vlan. This will give the mac address or the hardware address. For example

SW4#sh int vlan 1

Vlan1 is administratively down, line protocol is down

Hardware is EtherSVI, address is 0009.442f.ae00 (bia 0009.442f.ae00)

hi,

there might be VTP configuration which

has updated on reconnection with switch D

so vtp server will update the clients with

its configuration, which might have erased old vlan config - assumption
