Hi,
Is it possible to have redundancy for VTP server? Can we have a switch configured as VTP server with other switch in standby mode with same VTP configuration, like VTP domain name, password etc. If we can have this configuration how can we make sure that VLAN database between active and standby switch (VTP server) should be synchronized? Will there be a possibility that switches acting as client will consider failover switch as VTP server?
Please point me to some document with configuration details and explanation.
Thanks in advance,
Deepak Sharma

Deepak,
It is normal to have two or more servers in the VTP domain. They keep synchronisation by having a configuration revision number that is increased each time you do a change. The higher revision number wins, and the other servers (and clients) synchronise to it. The revision number survives through a reboot.
So there is no concept of an active VTP server and a standby. You can do your updates on any server, and the other servers and clients will synchronise to it as soon as they see that it has a higher revision level.
There is an excellent document about understanding VTP - the embedded flash animation is particularly worthwhile watching. It is at:

Hi Deepak
Just run 2 of your switches as VTP servers. This is perfectly possible and you should always have 2 vtp servers for each vtp domain anyway.
