Whats it like working for Cisco as a SE ?

Reposted this since I've not got any response over at career certifications.

I have been thinking about working in this capacity and people who I have spoken with seem to think Cisco are a good employer. Cisco UK also have some vacancies at the moment.

I am a CCIE who wants to move away from day to day configuring/troubleshooting/implementation into a more sales/consultancy/advisory type of role. I'd like to advise and guide customers on the product set and what you can do with them, do more designs, etc. Ultimately I'd like to be a Consulting Systems Engineer but people start at Cisco as a SE to learn the ropes I understand.

Please tell me all about being a Cisco SE!! Any docs etc?

I have this problem too.

....and if I did that it could get back to my employer (who is not the employer in my title). I know of people who say they like it at Cisco but I can't pester them.

Hence me asking rather more anonymously in this online community....
