Hi all
When configuring a modem connection to Cat6500 console port (since it has no AUX port), is that configuration the same as it was an AUX port, this is, same commands under "line con 0" ?
This is an IOS switch
Thanks in advance

Hello.
Just a note: Line "con 0" is a shortcut for line number. When you issue a "show line" command, it will return the real line numbers.
But to answer your question, yes, the console port is "line con 0" and it should be configurable in the same way, although i'm not sure how well it will work with modem.
Hope this helps

It works fine with a modem we have dozens of them in our net with dial modems used for out of band access . You really don't have to configure much besides a password on them and the exec-timeout feature.

Thanks for your reply. Well, my doubt is if also is necessary to configure same commands under "line con 0" such as:
login
modem InOut
modem autoconfigure type default
transport input all
autoselect ppp
...
this is, the same commands we have configured for the same modem connected to the aux port of another router
