Hello,

I am working on BSCI, OSPF part.

I see a command to summarize:

area area-id range address mask [advertise | not-advertise] [cost cost]

In fact, I don't understand the utility of the 'not-advertise' option (I just see that type 3 LSAs are suppresed).

Does anybody has a 'real-life' example of the use of this option ??

Thank you very much !

Lets say you have 3 OSPF normal areas - 0, 1, and 2. If you want to restrict the networks of area 1 not to be advertised to area 2, but to be available only for area 0, then you can go for this command option.
