I've noticed this issue in the past when converting AP's. It seems like my Master 4404 will take some AP's that are converted with an SCC and allow them to connect. However, some it does not? My standby controller with the allow SCC option turned on as well, allows any to SCC AP to connect? What gives... Also, it's a little confusing since the upgrade tools says you need to import the files, but you apparently don't except in some cases? By the way, I haven't tried importing the files for the AP's, and that would probably work.. but why doesn't the Allow SCC option simply work? Or why does it work for some and not others? I'm using c1200/c1230's and c1130AG's.

Hi Raun,
This isn't an exact science as you have seen. We did experience some problems when we did these conversions as well but eventually got them all done :) Are you using the latest version of the Upgrade Tool? Can you use the Controller that seems to work better as the Master for these conversions? Have you tried upgrading less than six at a time?
Here are some docs that helped us for sure;

Hey Rob, thanks for the reply and the help. I talked to TAC today and their explanation is, depending on what you put in for the controller IP on the upgrade tool, that is the Controller that will auto accept the AP with out having to import the SCC file generated by the Upgrade tool. HOWEVER, if you have more then one controller you WILL have to import the hash file into the controller for it to accept the SCC. Why they then have a SCC allow button is beyond me, seems slightly useless but I haven't put much though into it either. I originally was under the impression that LWAPP model number AP's were the only AP's with a MIC and not a SCC. According to TAC, that is not the case. AP's built before a certain date, were SCC and all AP's after that date were MIC regardless if they were autonamous or not. This is another reason why one ap of a 1200 series will associate and another AP of the same model may not..depending on Borne-On-Date. A pain. Fortunately if you have WCS, it's easier to manage the hash files for multiple controllers.
