Needed CCNP gear

Unanswered Question
Nov 20th, 2007

I am starting to look for hardware to study for my ccnp. I have found several kits that include the following:

1 3640 12.4

1 2620 12.3

1 2501 12.1

1 2924

2 1900

I am comparing two kits that have similar hardware as above. My question is one kit supports SDM and the other does not. I know the security test goes into SDM but how important is it to have hardware that supports it?

Thanks for your help

I have this problem too.

Why no 1900???? are they not used on the CCNP? plus wouldnt they be a cheap means for setting up VTP domains and testing STP????

Just a thought

I understand everyones comments on the 1900's and i will consider but what does everyone think about not having SDM support on these devices for the CCNP? It seems to be covered in the ISCW cisco press book

Thanks for the discussion

ISCW and ONT both have SDM material as part of their curriculum. As long as your routers can handle 12.4 you will be fine.

As for switches go with at least 2950's; this is the lowest switch i've seen in Cisco Press books lately.
