DHCP snooping database

Hi all,

I've a question regarding DHCP snooping. If all devices are directly attached to the switch performing the DHCP snooping - is it then still needed to store the DHCP snooping table somewhere on a TFTP server or even flash (ip dhcp snooping database flash\:dhcpdb)so that existing bindings can be loaded from the database after a switch reload/power-cycle?

Reason for asking is really related to the fact that all devices will get a down link anyway (during switch reload) and will need to go again through some sort of DHCP request/refresh after their link has come up again. So the DHCP snoop table will be populated anwyays after a reload/power down.

Thanks,

Guy

Main reasons are:

Store the file on a TFTP server to avoid consuming storage space on the switch storage devices.

When a switchover occurs, if the file is stored in a remote location accessible through TFTP, the newly active supervisor engine can use the binding list.
