RSP-7507-IOS- Redundancy

Hi,

We are planning up upgrade IOS on RSP-7507 router. We are having 2 RSP cards in redundant mode. While we were updrading IOS we upgraded it on the first RSP-Card-Flash memory. But when we were upgrading IOS on the second RSP-Card-Flash we found that media is corroupt and copy process was terminating in between. So we have ordered RMA and waiting for the card. Meanwhile we booted the router from the first RSP which was successfully upgraded. But now we dont have redundancy. Now question is when we will install good flash card in second RSP and then upgrade the IOS, and we will configure redundancy. Then I have a problem , and that is do we need to REBOOT the router ? Or redundancy is formed without any reboot of router. As this will take downtime , which is very difficult to get for higher end router.

Please share experience or any document on cisco.com which can tell us that reboot is reqd or not.

Thanx in advance

Subodh

Hi,

This action requires no download.

Insert the RSP and upload the new IOS.specify the boot image option

run the following commands

config)# slave reload after reload

config)# slave sync confg

check the redundancy status....it should be in sso mode.

Hope this will help you to do the activity with out any downtime.
