I would like to upgrade a catlyst6506 with a sup720-3B, I know that i need the highspeed fan and power supply's of minimum 2500W, I want to be sure that I can configure like this :

1/ I want to reuse the following module (WS-X6516A-GBIC) see next sh mod:

Mod Ports Card Type Model Serial No.

--- ----- -------------------------------------- ------------------ -----------

2 16 SFM-capable 16 port 1000mb GBIC WS-X6516A-GBIC SAL0808UJMD

Mod MAC addresses Hw Fw Sw Status

--- ---------------------------------- ------ ------------ ------------ -------

2 000f.241a.bd10 to 000f.241a.bd1f 3.0 7.2(1) 8.2(0.58)TFW Ok

Mod Online Diag Status

--- -------------------

2 Pass

2/ Can I make an etherchannel between this card and a WS-X6148A-GE-45AF to a catalyst 4506 module "WS-X4548-GB-RJ45"

Thanks,

Peter

Hi Peter

1) The Sup720 will support this module.

2) Yes you should be fine creating an etherchannel using ports from both modules.

Please see this link for the full restrictions and guidelines for configuring etherchannel on 6500 switches.
