Too much of anything is harmful.


Though routers & switches are capable of processing acl's & QoS policies with additional resource utilisation. But as I said, too many acl's, route-maps & QoS policies do burden the processor.


So you can use them effectively with the best practices. The best practice is to review the config & the policies on a regular basis (may be monthly or quarterly), & remove any configuration that may no longer be needed.
