We are replacing our fast-ethernet-input-output-controller. When we upgrade the IOS on the 7200, does it upgrade the NPE which is on the back or does it upgrade the fast ethernet input output controller?
You phrase the question as if it were one or the other to be updated. When you upgrade the IOS it will certainly upgrade the code running the NPE and probably also the code for the FastEthernet input output controller.
