Trunking ASA 5505 and Cisco 1200 AP

Hi all,

I think I know the answer to my post but I would like a second opinion.

I am trying to trunk a Cisco 1200 AP to an ASA 5505. The AP must have a native VLAN on VLAN 1 according to this link:

The ASA 5505 supports trunking but no native VLAN support.

Then I assume that if I want to do this, I'll have to put a switch in the middle, right?

The other option is to use a WLAN controller and tunnel all VLAN within the LWAPP tunnel.

Any other suggestions?

Yup, stick a switch in the middle. A cheap 2950 will do the trick.

Is there any possible way or suggestion other than putting a switch in the middle to accomplish this setup (AP trunk to ASA)? Please advise. Thank you.

Are you not able to configure the vlan 1 option on the sub-interface?

speed 1000

duplex full

no nameif

no security-level

no ip address
