Is it possible to create a DHCP scope for avaya ip phones with all the required option 176 parameters on a cisco router or switch?

Cisco seems to be very easy with just the option 150

Yes, you can configure your Cisco Switch/Router as DHCP Server and use option 176. The command would be the same as you would use for option 150. This should work fine without any issue.

The command would be (Under ip dhcp pool :

option 176 ip

Hope this helps

That is fine but when we use avaya phones, the DHCP option 176 string has a lot of parameters which includes the voice vlan ID, the CLAN etc...

So i was just wondering whether just pointing the IP address of the CLAN would give the phones the Voice ID

I need to test this out

I assume this has been resolved already, but just incase, here is some info that might help.

Option 176 ascii

"mcipadd=192.168.X.X,tftpsrvr=192.168.X.X,tftpdir=/,mcport=1719,l2qvlan=0,l2qsig=5,l2qaud=5,phndlength=3,vlantest=999"

This is your standard Scope option for Avaya phones that use tftp server IE: 5600 series

If you have 9600 series, you need to replace tftp with HTTP, and use 242 as the option.

Thanks, this helped me out today!

This is how you should type the command:

 option 176 ascii MCIPADD=10.0.100.80,MCPORT=1719,TFTPSRVR=10.0.100.80,VLANTEST=0
 option 242 ascii MCIPADD=10.0.100.80,MCPORT=1719,TFTPSRVR=10.0.100.80,VLANTEST=0

Option 176 and 242

so i have to ask the question , when you add this in dhcp options in infoblox for option 150 and you have cisco ip phones for end points. There is no string needed and the type should be array of ip-address??

thanks in advance
