reboot router when remove configured backup interface

I have 1700 series router in which 2 interface one is serial and another one is BRI it configured as backup interface of serial. when i remove configuration of backup interface that is BRI0/0 under serial interface, router automatically reboots,please suggest what will be possible problem ?

Software bug.

Often, yhis can be fixed by upgrading IOS to latest maintenance release.

thanks, i already upgrade IOS VERSION 12.4,BUT It still showing same problem
