DSL config

Answered Question
Dec 4th, 2007

I did the basic configuration for ADSL on router 1802. When I issue show int atm0, it shows the following.

ATM0 is initializing, line protocol is down

Hardware is MPC ATMSAR (with Alcatel ADSL Module)

Even for one full day it shows as initializing only. It does'nt become UP.

it seems that you don't have a working dsl line (do you have checked this with another modem) or that you have the false router (Annex B [ADSL over ISDN] instead of Annex A [ISDN over POTS]) ...

Cisco 1801 is for Annex A (POTS)

Cisco 1802 is for Annex B (ISDN)

The DSL is working with a 3rd party Router. Also the router is Cisco 1802, you can see the show version attached.

Hi, as suggested abouve the 1802 can be the wrong model for you DSL line, for "normal" DSL you need the 1801.
