Can you verify (physically) there is a flash card in the router? If there is try the following command "dir". It should list the files in flash. If you continue to get the above error, try replacing the flash card with a known working one. I recently had a bad one and I got a similar error.

HTH

Thanks for your prompt response

I have 2 of these routers and I hope that thats not the problem.

Both 1841 have they standard 128dram card in bank0: please look below

-------------------------------------------------

Current Memory configuration is:

Onboard SDRAM: Size = 128 MB : Start Addr = 0x00000000

-----Bank 0 128 MB

-----Bank 1 0 MB

Dimm 0: Not Installed

-------------------------------------------------

Main memory size: 128 MB in 64 bit mode.

Available main memory starts at 0xa0015000, size 130988KB

Smart Init is enabled.

NVRAM size: 191KB

That's the DRAM (router memory), not the flash memory (where the IOS image is stored). You will have a compact flash storage area in the front of the router. Check this link for a diagram.

Specifically look at #4. You can try reseating the card too, maybe it shook loose a bit.

Hi Mate

Tried all of the above , have ejected the flash card and swapped them with the other router no joy

What happens on the "dir"?

What does "dir flash: show ? Post here .

Do you have a smartnet contract for this device? It might be time for you to call cisco.
