SNMP Issue

Hello Friends

I'm working on problem that users are getting Ip address from devices instead of hostname. Its not an DNS issue.

those devices are missing SNMP & logging source statements.

Please tell me how fix this issue..I'm serching whole cisco site, but not getting fruitful info.

I'd really appreciate you help.

Well, I'm guessing each interface is firing off messages attributed with their own interface IP addr. Assuming you have DNS set up properly for the IP addr bound to the Loopback0 interface (as an example), the following two lines should yield syslogs and SNMP informs with a consistent name:

logging source-interface Loopback0

snmp-server trap-source Loopback0
