Hi all

I have a network in another country. May i know what do i need to configure so that I can have remote telnet access to the router and switches outside the country that the network is located.

An Example of the network would be

ISP Cloud --- Router --- Switches

Presume I dun have any firewall. How do i configure so that I can have telnet access to the router and switches for troubeshooting. THanks in Advance.

Firstly you need to set local username & password on all devices.

username XXXX password xxx

Then you'll have to enable telnet for access from remote by command:

line vty 0 4

login

if you have acs then you may set your devices to be authenticated by aaa.

Thanks. If my switch is behind a router. I have no problem accessing the router through the WAN IP configured.

Question is how do i access the switch. What IP should I telnet to and from where ?

Please help. Thanks

With the Vlan management IP. You must be having 1 management Ip on the switches by which you telnet & manage the switches.

Hope that clarifies.
