Hello everyone,

A question on the show processes cpu command...

We have numerous WS-C3524-XL-EN switches througout the network on different subnets. When I run this command on any of the switches it says the following...

CPU utilization for five seconds: 40%/4%; one minute: 38%; five minutes: 38%.

I thought this to be rather high and that it was constant across all of these model switches. We also have some 3550 switches configured the same way with barely any utilization. Does anyone have any ideas?

That is not high for those switches , without anything running and right out of the box it will runn at least 30% . A statement right out of the doc below. A 3550 is a totally different architechure so those will not register the same , they are a L2/3 switch.

" Therefore, it is normal for a 2900XL or 3500XL switch to indicate a CPU utilization value of 30 percent to 50 percent, even under minimal load.
