Which mode of fax service is more reliable?

I am actually using Fax Pass-through and I am having few problems.

Is fax mode a better solution?

Also, what should be the input and output level of the FXS port?

I am on the same VLAN, network is good and my GW is in MGCP and ATA is in SCCP.

Super G3 fax is disable and ECM is off. Soemtimes I can see retries on the fax.

Thanks

Hi,

ATA is only good for passthrough, and this is the most unrecommended way ...

Can you put the fax on a local FXS port in the same gateway? Do you have alternatives?

If not then try to limit the fax to 9600bps.

Hello,

Thanks for the reply. I only have an ATA for the fax.

Is the VG224 a better choice?

Is the FXS card doing super G3 faxes?

Thanks

Hi,

VG224 is a better option. it supports fax relay as well as passthrough.

Using an FXS card in the router that terminates the PRI should allow super G3 since there is no conversion to IP and back.
