Autonomous system number on 6500

cd2
Level 1
Level 1

I've a got several 6500's with DMVPNs configured. I want to do the following:

router eigrp 10

address-family ipv4 vrf FRED

autonomous-system 10

address-family ipv4 vrf WILMA

autonomous-system 20

then add the network statements etc.

This works on 2800 and on some 6500s. But on two 6500s I get the following message:

% Changing AS not allowed - Remove Address Family instead

The config then shows:

router eigrp 10

address-family ipv4 vrf FRED

autonomous-system 10

address-family ipv4 vrf WILMA

autonomous-system 10

I've deleted the address family and reapplied the config but to no avail. I haven't deleted the EIGRP process as the switches are carrying live traffic.

The 6500s are all running the same IOS code but two work and two give the errors message. The vrfs are defined and are routing with OSPF.

Any one got any ideas?

This sounds like a difference in code running on some of the switches. It might be the same version but different feature sets. And within the same version there can be different behaviors depending on the feature set being run. Perhaps you can post a show version from one of the 6500 where it does work and from one of the 6500 where it does not work? This would help to verify whether there are code differences or not.

Nope, exactly the same code, all switches have the exact same IOS file tftp'ed from the same server file.
