Hi everybody
Please see the attached diagram. It's a multienvironment client, the two VRF's belong to the same client. I need to create an IPX VLAN on the two Catalysts and terminate the tunnel as depicted in the diagram on a router connected to the two VRFs. I am being told that it is not safe or recommended to create the IPX VLAN there. What whould be the pros and cos for this. Are you aware of any special L2 settings that I have to use for this VLAN ? I do not intend to use the Catalysts to route IPX traffic. The router will do it.
Thank you
Cristian

As you want only to have IPX vlans, you need to configure the IPX network numbers under the vlan interface config mode.
Router(config)# interface
Router(config-if)# ipx network [

As mentioned above the IPX routing will be handled by the Cisco router not by the Catalys L3 Switches
Thank you
Cristian
