2811 Flash Memory

Hi,

I know the corporate answer on this but I thought I'd toss this out. Has anyone used non-Cisco flash in any of the 2800 series routers before? I'm using 2811s for my remote site access routers and I want to upgrade the flash to 128MB

I realize that if I contact TAC they may not support.

I'm finding it hard to spend $500-$700 for a 128MB CF when I can get the best name brand for less than 1/5 the cost.

Thanks

We use 3rd party CF all the time for upgrades. Very little issues if any - no more issues than with the Cisco branded CF!

I check with our cisco vendor provider, you may find new MEM2800-128CF cisco compatible for as low as $200.

http://www.dexon.com is an authorized cisco reseller, I have been buying cisco from them for about 6 years and have had no complains. In addition, they provide one year warranty

for any cisco equipement.

2 snaps for that! I remember when 8mb flash for the 2500 series router was $200+/stick! Ah, the good 'ole days.

OK, thanks.

I was doing some web searching before my original post, that's how I found out about the cheaper alternatives. I was mainly looking for any info on reliability issues.

Thanks
