WAN Route Setup

Unanswered Question
Dec 13th, 2007

I have a WAN routed between 2 L3 Cisco 3560's. Currently the firewall on lets call it the "A" side is the default gateway. I have a new Cisco 2821 router to take the firewalls place as the default gateway. Currently the firewall has a route configure for 192.168.0.0/24---192.168.0.1 for the WAN's traffic. I need to delete the route on the firewall and configure it on the 2821 router. How?

I have this problem too.

Hi,

If I understand your task, you need to configure a static route in the 2821 replacing the Firewall. Configuration is pretty much similar to the L3 switches.

ip route n.n.n.n m.m.m.m next-hop-ip

where n.n.n.n is the network, m.m.m.m is the mask and next-hop-ip is the IP address of the next connected router, i.e. where the traffic should go to.

If you could provide more details about interfaces, IP addresses and networks to be routed, a more detailed configuration can be provided.

In the firewall we have a route that is as following:

Route To Value=192.168.1.0/24

Gateway Value=192.168.0.1

This is the route I need to get off the Firewall and on to the 2821. Teh goal is to have the 2821 as the default gateway then the 2821 pointing to the firewall for outside access. The route I need off the firewall is for our WAN which is routed via 2 L3 3560G's.
