Pushing configs to new routers

I have a 3825 that is now config'd and deployed. I'd like to make it the baseline for the next batch to be installed.

I have archived (public) its' config in RME, but wonder:

Since the config is, to some degree, machine specific (IE, image, IP addresses, crypto keys, hostname), if I deploy a config, is RME smart enough not to send this info?

Preciate your thoughts.

If you are sending the config it will be like any other copy of a config to a device. If the commands are valid they will be entered on the device, if not, then they will fail.

If the image is supported on the device it can be pushed as well.

Since I'll be pushing a 3825 config to a 3825, I expect all the commands to be valid... just perhaps not wanted.

IE, what prevents the hostname from being overwritten by the new config that's being pushed?

Hi Michael,

if you deploy one config from device A to device B all settings are deployed.

Because a configfile is nothing else than a textfile the other device read it an utilizes the settings.

You have to change the device specific data manual.

Best regards,

Frank
