multiple PRI lines to gateway

Answered Question

All, Need some help on this please. Im in the process of setting up a new UCM with infrastructure to go with it. Customer is getting a 3825 gateway, and 4 PRI lines will be coming into it. Im planning on using MGCP to UCM, but if UCM server fails, Id like for phones to register to the gateway and still be able to make calls out/in. Im thinking about the dial-peers and how they should be setup. Would I be using 1 dial-peer to configure so that calls going out would be distributed among the PRI lines? OR, would I need to know what DIDs come in on each PRI so that I can do dial-peers accordingly to that specific PRI line (i.e. 1234 comes in on PRI #1, and 6789 comes in on PRI #2. Would the dial-peers have to reflect that in particular?)

Your incoming dial peers would not need to reflect which DID comes in on which PRI. Outgoing dial peers would be something like:

dial-peer voice 1 pots

destination pattern 9[2-9]......

port 0/0/0

dial-peer voice 2 pots

destination pattern 9[2-9]......

port 0/0/1

preference 1

dial-peer voice 3 pots

destination pattern 9[2-9]......

port 0/0/2

preference 2

dial-peer voice 4 pots

destination pattern 9[2-9]......

port 0/0/3

preference 3

Hope this helps.

Do you think I should add the "forward-digits 7" command in each of these?

Brandon Buffin Fri, 12/14/2007 - 08:15

Yes, you would need the forward-digits 7 command in this case. For other destination patterns, you would obviously need to forward a different number of digits, such as:

91[2-9..[2-9]...... - forward-digits 11

911 - forward-digits 3

9911 - forward-digits 3

9011T - prefix 011

Hope this helps.

hi,

why not using trunk group for a easier configuration:

int serial x/y

trunk-group mypri

dial-peer voice 999 pots

destination-pattern ...

trunkgroup mypri

that's all!

The withing the trunk group you can do additional configurations, etc.

Hope this helps, please rate post if it does!
