BCMSN Official Exam Certification Guide, page 295:

CEF also has been carried over to the Catalyst switching platforms. The following platforms all

perform CEF in hardware:

■ Catalyst 6500 Supervisor 720 (with an integrated MSFC3)

■ Catalyst 6500 Supervisor 2/MSFC2 combination

■ Catalyst 4500 Supervisor III, IV, and V

■ Fixed-configuration switches, such as the Catalyst 3750, 3560, 3550, and 2950

CEF on 2950?! I test on Feature Navigator & on my 2950 (c2950-i6q4l2-mz.121-14.EA1a.bin), nothing..

This is error in the book?

I have this problem too.

It relies on DSCP and CoS values, not NBAR

Ok but what about AutoQos feature?

Q. Does CEF need to be enabled for Cisco AutoQoS on routers?

A. Yes. Cisco AutoQoS uses Network Based Application Recognition (nBAR) to identify various applications and traffic types; CEF is a prerequisite for NBAR.
