backup configuration on cisco routers with scp

Unanswered Question
Dec 16th, 2007

Anyone knows when Cisco plans to incorporate ssh

public/private key in Cisco IOS so that I can

backup configuration from cisco devices without

having to put password in my scripts. Just about

every vendors allow ssh/scp via public/private key

authentication scheme, why not cisco?

The idea of putting password in a script is a

violation of corporate information security standard.

I have this problem too.

The last I heard was no, we have no plans to do this. Though clearly there is value to this. You should raise this point with your account team, and they can create a PERS request which builds a business case for this feature.
