config-register on Cat6509(sup720, Native IOS)
[config-register RP]
Sup720-6509#sh ver
....
....
Configuration register is 0x2102
[config-register SP]
Sup720-6509#remote command switch sh ver
....
....
Configuration register is 0x101
If Cat6500 is rebooting, what is config-regiter value?
We want to boot "0x2102".
thank you.

This is how IOS is located while booting.
Check the boot system command in NVRAM for any entry. (if not found)
Boot from flash. (if flash is empty)
Boot from tftp server. (if tftp unavailable)
Boot miniIOS from ROM.
So the device boots from flash as mentioned above (0x2102 is also boot frm flash).
Boot from ROM is the method of last resort.
hope that clarifies.

Hi,
this "problem" is usual, when you convert from hybrid to native IOS.
When you are in RP, just do following:
conf t
config-register 0x2102
end
write memory
and then after:
remote command switch show bootvar
you should see something like this:
Configuration register is 0x101 (will be 0x2102 at next reload)
HTH

Ivan
