I built a lab with 3 segments(Segment 1, Segment 2, and Segment 3) consisting of 3 routers and 2 switches in each segment. The 3 routers are linked via back-to-back and with Frame-Relay. On one of the segments (Segments 1), I wanted to test and practice on VALNs, so I trunked the uplink port with 802.1q and created different IP segments on each subinterface. Things are working just find on this side of the network (Segment 1 with VLANs) Now, if I am on the other side of Segment 1 (Segment 2 or Segment 3) and try to ping a client on one of the VLANs in Segment 1, the ping fails. I understand that it isn't recommended to span VLANs across a WAN link and it is a bit difficult; however, what if I have a server that is on a VLAN on Segment 1 and clients on Segments 2 or or 3 try to access it from across the WAN? What do I need to do to make this work?
