Hi all,
I am using C3750-12G, which is 12 port (10/100/1000) modular switch as WAN switch for terminating/connecting multiple wireless links and a C3845 router at same site.
Here I would like to know if 4/8/16 port (10/100/1000) module available for C3845 router which can replace C3750-12G switch from the network, so that I can replace/remove one device on network.
Many thanks,
Raj

Hi, are you using the 3750 for routing and if so for which traffic volme and speed? The small switch modules for the router, don't support L3.

Hi,
3750 will not do routing. This will be used as a trunk switch connecting multiple uplinks.
I want C3845 router with 8/16 Ports of Gig interface (modular) like as in Cat 3750 switch (working as trunk switch)
Actually in our network design we have Cat 3750, which is 12 port modular switch, connecting to C3845 router and router terminating on ASA5540 (ASA will be doing basic function).
Now what is want, is to replace this Cat 3750 with a module on C3845 router and use Crypoto IOS to replace ASA5540.
Can u please let me know if this is possible.

Hi,
sure you can do that, but the switch modules (ESW) for the ISR routers, do not support SFP like the 3750. All ports are copper, except for some models, with also a single SFP port.
Hope this helps, please rate post if it does!

Ya this is what even i could manage to find from the cisco.com, so in that case i will have to purchase 12 modules of single sfp.
And if i am using ASA 5540 for basic function, so can I replace the same with Crypto IOS.
Thanks,
Raj

Yes, cisco IOS does all what a PIX/ASA does and is some cases even more.

Not sure if you have found this yet, but we now sell fully-functional ethernet switches that fit inside 3800 routers:
http://www.cisco.com/en/US/products/hw/modules/ps2797/products_feature_guide09186a0080415bae.html
This is basically the same thing as a 3750 switch, except it is a service module for the 3800. Some of these are even stackable with real 3750's.

Yes, that is what was suggested, but none of the modules has 12 sfp ports like the 3750-12G that was to be replaced.
