No proper busy tone

Hi,

I am having a CCM 5.1 with a H.323 gateway for PSTN calls. Whenever a call to PSTN is busy or not available, I am getting a long ring kind of sound instead of busy tone. I can see sometimes provider is sending me "User busy tone", but I am not getting busy tone in my phone.

Here is the output of "debug isdn q931".

Please help how to resolve this issue.

I think the following message"Q931: call_disc: PI received in disconnect

" is creating the problem.

Thanks,

Manu

In-band progress tones (for example, ringback and busy tones) and announcements (for example, "The number you have dialed is no longer in service") are required to successfully signal voice calls. Progress tones can be generated by the originating, terminating or intermediate devices.

The indication of in-band tones and announcements is controlled by the Progress Indicator (PI) information element (IE) in ISDN and H.323 networks. The PI signals those interworking situations where in-band tones and announcements must be used. In the context of this document, these are the ITU Q.931 PI values of interest:

PI = 1Call is not end-end ISDN. Further call progress information might be available in-band.

PI = 2Destination address is non-ISDN.

PI = 3Origination address is non-ISDN.

PI = 8In-band information or an appropriate pattern is now available.

The indication that tones and announcements are available is signaled by an Alerting, Call Proceeding, Progress, Connect, Setup Ack or Disconnect message that contains a PI = 1 or 8.
