Monitoring the serial link

hi,

We have 8 MB serial link for internet access given by ISP. We need to check if we are getting really 8 MB from service provider. And secondly what type of traffic is passing through that serial link. (like http, ftp, or any other wellknow ports used by applications ) . Are there any commands to see these details.

Any link on cisco.com ?

Thanks in advance

Hi,

Try pchar http://www.kitchenlab.org/www/bmah/Software/pchar/

If its connected to internet, all traffic will be passing there - specially coming from rogue hosts :). You need to put ACL to permit only authorized traffic, or let your firewall do it.

hi,

we have given access only to particular ip addrsss only. But somehow all bandwidth is getting choked . That is why we need to check which ports are utilizing the bandwidth.

I believe that you can get helpful information about this from NetFlow. This link will give helpful information about configuring NetFlow and how to use it to identify the Top Talkers:
