CEF configuration

I would like to get some clarification regarding CEF configuration on routers. I have enabled CEF golbally and verified that it is enabled on Fas1/0, which is connected to the LAN switch, and S0/0 (S0/0.1), which connected to the WAN link using frame-relay. The questions that I have are:

1- If CEF is enabled on the Fas1/0 interface on the router, do I need to do anything on the switch that connects to it?

2- If CEF is enabled on the S0/0 (S0/0.1)interface on the router, do I need to do be aware of any special configuration? Also, since serial interfaces don't have MAC addresses, why is CEF or or any type of route-caching is required?

Thanks in advance,

sK
