Any one suggest, end user can lock Cisco IP phones while away from desk?

It is possible in Avaya and other IP phones!

Is Cisco IP phones capable for this feature?

Additional, third party application not interested. Again cost !!!

Phone lock should be built in feature, its basic feature of telephony system.

Pls. let me know if any one has comments on this.

Which call manager system and version do you have or intend to purchase ?

One option is to use Extension Mobility and create the logged out profile of the phone with no DNs. You can also enable an automatic logout after a certain period of time. This will essentially allow you to lock the phone as when no one is logged in to EM, no DNs are available for incoming or outgoing calls.

Hope this helps. If so, please rate the post.

Basically EM is not for phone lock!!!

EM is for mobile users.

Experienced problem with EM used as phone lock

1.login/logout is not one key button function.

2.when logout, you can not rcv calls.

3.Evrytime login/logout while out from desk is additional burden on end user.

Phone lock is different

1.When phone locked still end user can pickup and answer calls.

Phone lock will NOT allow dialout, except dialout everything will be operational.

you can see missed call/rcvd call

any other solution.

As I know thrid party SW available.

But is is possible in CCM by writing XML application?

True, EM is not designed for locking phones, but it can perform this function.

1. Login/logout can be made to be a 1-button process.

2. If you want to receive calls, create DNs for the logged out profile, but give the DNs a calling search space that does not have access to any partitions.

OK, can login/logout DN can be same?

Yes, it can.

Rajesh,

currently cisco does not support this feature for phone lock. The EM can be used to perform the similar function but i don't recommend it.EM service relies only on Publisher server , if publisher is out of network exsisting user nor new users will be able to on login/logout to EM.

single point of failuer for basis call funcationality which customer will not be accepting.

Yes there are 3rd party utilities can be used , which will also add cost to it.

Hi Vishwesh,

Thats true by default EM service relies only on Publisher server , if publisher is out of network existing user nor new users will be able to on login/logout to EM.

But using DNS server you can overcome the dependancy of Publisher and single point of failure.

Nimit
