Help!!! Rommon Irregularities

Happy New Year to all!!!

Before I begin, I can't remember the last time I actually had to do this.

Issue: forced to load image via tftp from rommon mode on a 2650 router. Memory issue!!

PC -- 2650 router & 3550 switch

2650 -- 3550 port fa0/1

vlan 1 active with IP address of default gateway. Both active ports in vlan 1.

Once I enter the sequence i.e.:

rommon 11 > IP_ADDRESS=192.168.x.x

rommon 12 > IP_SUBNET_MASK=255.255.255.0

rommon 13 > DEFAULT_GATEWAY=192.168.x.x

rommon 14 > TFTP_SERVER=192.168.x.x

rommon 15 > TFTP_FILE=c2600-a<!>9-mz.123-24.bin

rommon 16 > tftpdnld

!

The port on the switch goes AMBER {Previous to the sequence above it was GREEN}. And the TFTP fails with arp issue 1. Then the port goes GREEN again. I've never had this happen before and can't figure out the issue.

Can someone shed some light on this.

Thank very much.

set the switch port to use portfast. Sounds like an issue I had a few times, the port goes into its listening and learning mode but the router is actively trying to arp the gateway/tftpserver and the router gives up about the same time that the port finally goes into forwarding mode. Unix workstations(routers too) really don't like being ignored for 30seconds, they take it as an insult.

HTH,

Rob
