getting IP address from DHCP server

hello everybody,

i have a problem getting a IP address from DHCP server. i have connected a transceiver witch a switch Cisco Catalyst 3560, and when i connected my laptop to Switch, i didn't get a IP address, it happens when a 100 speed NIC, because a 1000 speed NIC i got a IP address. Would you help me please???

Hi

It sounds like you could have a speed/duplex problem.

What is the NIC set to for speed / duplex and what is the port on the switch that laptop connects to set as.

Set both as auto/auto.

If that doesn't work try setting both ends as 100full.
