Hello Experts,

Does multiple static route to same destination with a different metric on a PIX 515E works same way as the floating static route on a router ?

For Example(Can u use follwoing static route and obtain same results as the floating static route on a router):

route intf 2 192.168.1.0 255.255.255.0 172.16.1.1 1

route intf 2 192.168.1.0 255.255.255.0 172.31.1.1 100

Lets clear up something quick. The second route would NEVER be used. You need to be running a routing protocol to be able to use the floating static route ('cause you set set it a bit higher than the routing protocols administrative distance). That being said, the answer to your question is no (because of the two static routes), but it can be yes if you enable a routing protocol and you set your static route with the proper AD.

HTH and please rate.
