The "bandwidth" is useful to Dynamic Routing Protocol. For example, in OSPF it use in metric calculation. If you don't use Dynamic Routing Protocol, I don't see the use of "bandwidth" command. To configure serial port in DCE mode, use "clock rate bps" - bps is your line speed. Take note that the higher speed may not work if your cable is too long. To allow higher speed, use only EIA/TIA-449 or V.35
