Domain server problem

this is a Cisco 7206VXR using c7200-p-mz.124-12.bin. When ping to http://www.google.com, the domain server translation repeat appeared few times. It suppose to be appear one time only, right? Do you guy have any idea what cause it?

HI Jackie,


This is Normal. Refer the"show run" whether the domain name-lookup is configured for some Servers then it may resolve quickly.


Otherwise check with the ISP for some DNS Names.

ya,the domain name-lookup is configured, the config is

ip domain name xx.xx.x

ip name-server xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx


but on the other router also the domain name-lookup is configured, the config is

ip domain name xx.xxx.xx

ip name-server xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx

ip name-server xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx

but whe ping www.google.com it appear

ping www.google.com the domain translation is just appear 1 time only. And why it repeat several time on the other router

HI Jackie,


If the name Server located in Service Provider means, i would recommend check with them for Resolution.


Whether the lookup Servers are Primary or relay points.


Try to trace the name Server from the Router in which you have the Problem and from the other U dont have.
