Why can't I place a WISM in an older 6503 ?
I would like to know the technical limitations.

The Catalyst chassis on which the Cisco WiSM is installed needs a Supervisor 720 module. Here is the device compatibility matrix for installing Cisco WiSM.

OK, OK I already know this.
Thing is that not all Ciswco docs say the same, some metion that 6503 (not E) as being suported.
So the question remains, why is it not possible in only this chassis ?

Hi Friend,
WiSM architecture is designed on particular line card baseboard which is not supported in 6503 chassis and that line card requires 6503-E chassis only.

So there is a difference between the older 6503 and others like 6505, 6509,.. (non E types) ?
Does the design of the older 6503 had other mismatches concerning modules ? or else ..
