Aironet 1200 series without antenna?

Hello,

I recently purchased a Cisco Access Point (Aironet 1200 series 1231) and have configured it with success but the radio signal is very weak and it doesn't come with the antenna. I thought it came missing, but on the manual says very clearly that the antennas for the 2.4 Ghz are not included. Is this information correct? Why would Cisco sell this access point without any kind of antenna? It just doesn't make sense to me.

thanks,

Fred Pohl

That is correct, there are no antennas included for 2.4.

The reason (in my mind anyway) is that there are so many potential roles for that group of devices and so many possible ways to mount it, and so many potential coverage scenarios, that there is no "standard" antenna that they'd want to include.

Shop around and find a couple 2.2dbi rubber duck antennas with reverse TNC connectors (RTNC) and you should be all set.

Good Luck

Scott
